Life Is a Mother… Literally a Mother. Here Are Some Ways to Bring Your Marketing to Life.

Life has a funny way of teaching us lessons in the least expected places.

Because let’s be real - life is a mother. Literally. And if you pay attention, there’s a lot about motherhood that conjoins with the chaos of marketing.

Here are a few ways I’ve found to bring marketing to life - straight from the trenches of parenting:

1. Patience Pays Off

Kids don’t learn overnight, and neither do customers. It takes time for your audience to warm up, trust you, and ultimately take action. Just like teaching a toddler to say “please,” marketing requires repetition, consistency, and patience.

💡 Tip: Build nurturing campaigns that guide your audience step-by-step instead of expecting instant conversions.

2. Storytelling Is Everything

Bedtime stories aren’t just to lull kids to sleep—they’re to spark imagination, create connection, and make lessons stick. Good marketing works the same way. If your brand isn’t telling a story people can see themselves in, you’ll lose their attention.

💡 Tip: Infuse your campaigns with narratives that put the customer at the center of the story - not just the product.

3. Creativity Beats Perfection

Ask any mom: sometimes you’ve just got to tape it together, color outside the lines, or turn dinner leftovers into “creative cuisine.” Marketing is no different. The perfect strategy on paper doesn’t matter if you can’t adapt, improvise, and try new ideas in real time.

💡 Tip: Don’t wait for the “perfect” campaign. Launch, learn, tweak, repeat.

4. Listening Is Half the Battle

Kids don’t always tell you what they want outright—you have to listen between the lines. Your customers are the same. Surveys, feedback loops, social listening… these are your secret parenting/messaging hacks.

💡 Tip: Make feedback a regular part of your marketing process so your strategy evolves with your audience’s needs.

5. Celebrate the Small Wins

From a baby’s first steps to a customer’s first click—progress is progress. Marketing isn’t just about the big launches; it’s about stacking small moments of growth that add up over time.

💡 Tip: Track micro-metrics (engagement, comments, opens) to celebrate progress instead of only looking at big outcomes like revenue.

Bringing It Full Circle

Motherhood is messy, magical, and endlessly unpredictable - just like marketing. Both require resilience, empathy, and a sense of humor. And both come alive when you lean into the chaos instead of fighting it.

So the next time you’re stuck on a campaign or feeling overwhelmed, remember: life is a mother. Literally. And if moms can raise humans, we can definitely bring our marketing to life. Also, I don't have any children.
